Fabiola’s Spaghetti House and Deli with Family

Quick Bite: The service was great, with food well seasoned beyond basic American Italian Food. With a unique  ambiance given it’s connected to a swanky book bar and cafe, Fabiola’s is a great option for a date night, or family dinner.

Service:

On a whim, we decided to have dinner at Fabiola’s as a family of three. I didn’t think they took reservations, but upon research they do have a walk in waitlist on their website. Nonetheless, there was a wait time of about 20 minutes for the two of us and our 7 month old, (not bad for a last minute Friday dinner time decision) but it went quickly since we happily browsed the book collection of the connected  Leopold’s Book Bar Caffe.

Ambiance:

Upon walking in, the restaurant smelled divine, good Italian home cooking-spiced,tomatoey and extremely promising. The space was comfortably packed with familiar red and white tablecloth adorning the tables, and a beautiful  sunroom beyond our table. Our stroller fit in between table perfectly between tables without disturbing dinner service or other diners.

Large Groups:

There were a couple larger parties seated, however it looked some had to be split up. I wouldn’t do more than 8 people so as not to be crushed.

Taste:

Creole Italian Barbecue Shrimp-Half a dozen shrimp sautéed in a buttery, spicy creole “barbecue” sauce, served with seeded semolina bread

I could have drank the “barbecue” sauce, and was in fact, scraping the plate for the last drops. I loved the lemony yet hearty and satisfying burst.

Spicy Penne a la Vodka-with peas, Nueske’s bacon, and crispy prosciutto

A decadent creamy sauce is always appreciated in a pasta, and this delivered. It was subtly spicy, it was that satisfying orange color and it granted comforting bite after bite.

Rigatoni with Sunday Gravy-Beef short rib braciole, house made meatballs, and Fraboni’s hot Italian sausage braised in our San Marzano Marinara. Gravy served over rigatoni with the meats on the side, Nonna style.

Yeah, No:

We spent a little over $70 (Ade had a Coke) not including the tip. Yeah-I’d say it was worth it! The portions were generous but not obnoxious, leaving us pleasantly full.  We would happily come back again!
