Ade’s Stovetop Mac n Cheese
Ade doesn’t believe in boxed mac n cheese so he makes this instead! Fun fact: this is the first half of his holiday mac n cheese recipe.
Ingredients:
One box of Macaroni - any kind is fine
One Green Bell pepper (Diced)
One Medium Yellow Onion (Diced)
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
4 tablespoons of butter
8 oz of Whole Milk
8 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
8 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
8 oz of Colby Jack Cheese
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cayenne Powder
Instructions
Boil Macaroni pasta per instructions on box
Add salt and a tablespoon of oil to help pasta not to stick.
While pasta is cooking dice one green bell pepper and yellow onion.
Drain pasta and set aside.
In same pot, add two tablespoons of olive oil and saute green bell peppers and onions for 4-5 minutes on medium high heat.
Once bell peppers and onions are soft add macaroni back into pot and mix well.
Turn the heat down to medium. Add half a stick of butter and whole milk and season with salt, black pepper, garlic salt and onion powder.
Taste Macaroni and adjust seasonings to preference, you can add a little bit of cayenne for a little kick.
You can now add the cheese one at time starting with mild cheddar then mozzarella and lastly colby jack.
Mix really well and enjoy! We had ours with oven baked bbq drumsticks.
