Zafferano Ristorante
Quick Bite: Bring your patience but stay for the flavor!
Service:
Below average, they definitely have some kinks to workout as it feels like this might be their first venture. They were very kind and kept checking in, but the wait between appetizers, drinks and entrees was a lot. We had to remind them about 2 missing appetizers, and missing entree. Perfectly understandable for a newer restaurant venture, but if the service issues persist in the coming months that’s a different story. Don’t go if you’re hungry, because you might get hangry!
Ambiance:
It’s a large space located up a flight of stairs connected to a hotel and you walk through a bar to get to the restaurant . Though we dined after dark, we anticipate the large windows will provide a lovely sunset view when the seasons change. We also liked that you could see the kitchen, and the bar was unique in that they could run drinks on either side.
Large Groups:
Yes! And it was kid friendly, with multiple families with small children present.
Taste:
Saffron Mango Laasi-refreshing Punjab style mango lassi infused with delicate saffron flavor
Pretty standard, this one was made with yogurt so it was thicker buy the sweetness was perfect.
Burrata with Masala Chutney-Burrata from Italy blended with a tangy masala chutney from Tamil Nadu
This was fun, but the chutney was just a hare too salty. Additionally the bread to chutney to cheese ratio was off since we finished the bread without finishing the rest of the plate.
Wings Basket-A mix of Indian kebabs and Italian spiced wings
Favorite of the night!! They were perfectly sized, and spiced, and incredibly juicy. The green chutney added such a nice fresh flavor bomb and was a perfect addition. Next time, we’re getting a double order!
Samosa Calzone-Naples' calzone meets North India's samosa, stuffed with spiced potatoes, peas and cheese, baked to perfection
This item on the menu was the one we were most intrigued about as we were curious on how the chefs would fuse Indian flavors into a calzone. While would argue that this was more of a samosa than calzone it was delicious! Perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor.
Shrimp Tikka Pizza-Neapolitan- style pizza layered with Juicy tandoori shrimp
The Tikka sauce was really flavorful and had a decadent kick, but the spice was tamed with the cheese pretty well. They were pretty generous with the shrimp, and the crust was nice and crunchy. It made a great breakfast since we were too full to get to it at dinner!
Zafferano Special Chicken Biryani-A perfect blend of fragrant basmati rice, tender chicken, and bold Indian spices, slow-caramelized onions, and aromatic herbs. Served with spiced yogurt for the perfect balance.
This was packed with flavor and i would say a ⅘ in terms of spice level. I would highly suggest mixing really well before eating. My only wish was that they had some more options of biryani but very happy with the dish.
Masala Chicken Parmesan-Italian chicken parmesan, enhanced with a rich tikka masala sauce
Our friend found this to be delicious, and was surprised at the generous portion as one piece was filling enough.
Yeah, No
We will be back! Our group of 5 spent about $190 and it was well worth it. Bring your patience and stay for the flavor!
